Village on Congress is a ‘city
within a city’ that incorporates retail,
office, living and green
spaces into a progressive
South Congress mixed-use urban community. At
Village on Congress, residents can relax near the
private resident pool*,
catch up with each other in the open
courtyards, or
grab a bite to eat at a local
sidewalk cafe,
all steps away from their front door. Situated
on six acres,
just south of Ben White, Village offers the urban lifestyle,
without the hastles and congestion
of downtown. Only a few minutes
from Downtown Austin and in
close proximity to the I-35/290 highway junction, Village
dwellers have easy access to not only eclectic local
Austin boutiques and eateries; but also to major businesses/employers,
Southpark Meadows and Austin Bergstrom International
Airport. Village on Congress truly affords the
best value in South Austin
urban living.
Featured Neighbor: Red Shed Tavern
Red
Shed Tavern is South Austin’s new, locally
owned neighborhood bar. They are housed in a renovated
hundred-year-old stone cottage that has operated as
a bar since prohibition. Back when South Congress Avenue
was Highway 87, it was the last stop to get a beer
before heading down to San Antonio. Rumor has it that
the infamous Newton boys were patrons in the 1930s.
In the late 80s it was a filming location for Pair
of Aces, starring Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson,
as well as the featured bar in the Texas comedy Nadine
with Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. Red Shed Tavern offers an assortment of cocktails,
import and microbrew beers, and a selection of wines.
They run happy hour specials daily. Red Shed has a
cozy indoor space with a billiard room, limestone fireplace,
and an eclectic jukebox, as well as a large backyard
patio conducive to South Austin lounging under the
sun or stars.
Live + Work
The townhouse component of Village is a tribute to
the entreprenuers of Austin with a focus on the live/work
lifestyle.
Each townhouse is designed with a dedicated home office
or studio space directly behind the front door. For
those that plan to commute, this makes for a grand
foyer or gallery space.
Shop + Play
Did you know the Austin population will double
in the next 20 years? The Village team is
doing our part to reduce Austin’s average MPV
(miles per vehicle) through the integration of onsite
retail
and dining.
Village is also a short walk or bike ride to Trudy’s,
CVS Pharmacy, The Metropolitan Theatre, Umi (sushi),
Texadelphia and several banking centers.
Location
Not
only is Village a 10-minute commute to the International
Airport, downtown and Central Market, the site sits
approximately equidistant between downtown and South
Park Meadows -- the largest mixed-use and retail development
in
central Texas.
